Parents, students and teachers of the Suzuki method will come from around the world to meet for two weeks of musical instruction, extracurricular activities and public performances as the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point hosts the 47th annual American Suzuki Institute (ASI).
Sponsored by the Aber Suzuki Center at UW-Stevens Point, ASI sessions are July 16-22 and 23-29. Classes are offered in violin, viola, voice, cello, bass, piano, harp, chamber music, Suzuki early childhood education as well as skill building sessions for teachers.
The ASI Concert and Recital Series, free to the public, features faculty, students and guest artists in solo and group performances. All instruments and levels are represented in more than 50 concerts.
Performances will be held in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center on campus or at Sentry Insurance's Theater, 1800 Northpoint Drive, Stevens Point:

Since 1971, UW-Stevens Point has been home to America's first summer Suzuki program and the oldest institute outside of Japan. Based on methods of Shinichi Suzuki, ASI reinforces teaching music in a way similar to how children learn language, with parental involvement, repetition and encouragement.
