Biography

Lori grew up in Manhattan, Kansas, but adopted central Wisconsin as home after a year of volunteer service with the Capuchin Franciscan Volunteer Corps of the Midwest brought her to Marathon, Wisconsin, in 1998. She has taught and offered student support services, especially to students who use English as a Second Language and the instructors who work with them, at UW-Madison, Northern Arizona University (Flagstaff), the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), and Denison University (Granville OH). She's happy to be back in central Wisconsin supporting students on their academic journeys! She is an avid action researcher, constantly seeking ways to help students notice and apply the characteristics of academic and professional Discourses.

In her free time, Lori enjoys biking, walking, strength training, reading or watching German crime fiction, messing with her ham radio (callsign KE8GFZ), practicing her musical instruments (voice, hammered dulcimer, guitar, and piano), and diagramming sentences.
