Associate Lecturer of Music History

Rachel Neece serves as Associate Lecturer of Music History at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where she teaches courses on music history and on film music. She holds a Master's degree in musicology from the Eastman School of Music. She has presented at the Popular Culture Association / American Culture Association Conference and at the Northeast Modern Language Association Conference. Her research focuses on early music—particularly that of the Middle Ages—and she has attended the Historical Notation Bootcamp at Yale University. Her thesis, "Singing the Office of Saint Sebastian: Prayers to a Soldier and a Healer," focused on chants from the early fourteenth century.
Neece is also a classical guitarist, and she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the Eastman School in guitar performance. Neece studied guitar in Switzerland for a year and was a studio teacher in upstate New York before coming to Stevens Point.
