Corning Museum of Glass' Main Stage Hot Shop

Week-long residency (October 5-9, 2010),

Presentations (October 5-8, 2010 5pm-7pm)

We are very excited to feature the Corning Museum of Glass’ Main Stage Hot Shop as the first of the Sentry Invitation to the Arts series of events planned for this year!

The Corning Museum of Glass will feature four of their finest glass artists in the museum’s one of a kind mobile hot shop during a week-long residency on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point campus. During their residency artists from Corning will present a wide range of programs and demonstrations for elementary, high school, and university students, as well as many free and open to the public community presentations.

One of the centerpieces of the glass art experience will be the "You Design It; We Make IT!" program which brings the art of glassmaking alive for the audience. All area 5th and 6th graders will be invited to design their own glass object on paper, all designs will be submitted to the glass artists from Corning and one lucky student from each area elementary school will have their design made on the Main Stage Hot Shop during their visit.

In addition to this presentation for elementary students, there will be free community presentations the evenings of October 5-8, 2010 from 5pm-7pm, as well as Saturday, October 9 starting at 11am during UWSP’s Homecoming celebration. The Corning Museum of Glass’ Main Stage Hot Shop will be located outdoors in the UWSP Sundial, between the Noel Fine Arts Center, Trainer Natural Resources Building and Albertson Hall.
