Sustainable Communities

Community Sustainability Survey

Preliminary Results

This survey (conducted in 2022)  was developed to assess the work of Wisconsin local governments currently engaged with established sustainability programs. This report summarizes areas where emphasis has been placed as well as topics where actions have not been taken.

We developed a list of local governments that were involved in one or more programs that focused on sustainability, for example, Green Tier Legacy Communities, Energy Independent Communities, and Eco- Municipalities. A total of 153 local governments including counties, cities, villages, towns, and tribes were identified.
