Diana K. B. Hoover is a professor
of graphic design in the Department of Art & Design teaching classes in
typography, symbols, branding and systems, production processes, and
professional practices. Currently, she is the faculty advisor for the
UW-Stevens Point student chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts
(AIGA).
In her creative research, she is
interested in the environment, culture, technology, and how we navigate
identity and place. In 2017 she directed the College of Fine Arts COFAC Creates
event series, ‘Expressions of Place’ and led an Art and Design Summer Study
Tour to Ireland and Scotland titled, ‘Symbols, Patterns, and Sacred
Places’.
Her academic research in design
has led to published articles and presentations at a number of conferences
including AIGA Design Education, North American Cartographic Information
Society (NACIS), and Athens International Conference on Visual &
Performing Arts.
Her mixed media work, digital
prints, collages, and installations have been exhibited regionally,
nationally, and internationally. She has work included in a number of private
and public collections.
Diana is the proprietor of
Strong Heart Design specializing in visual information design, mapping, and
identities.
