Central Wisconsin Leaders Head to Madison to Push Local Issues

Over the past week, Madison has been filled with protesters fighting Right-to-Work legislation and voicing their outrage about the officer involved shooting killing unarmed, 19 year old Tony Robinson. On Tuesday however, the streets were much more calm, allowing for the voices and issues of dozens of Central Wisconsin leaders to be heard by legislators in the Capitol before the budget is set.

Members of the Central Wisconsin Alliance for Economic Development (CENTERGY) met in Madison Tuesday to share their concerns with legislators on four major issues facing Central Wisconsin that they would like to see change and progress on in this session. Those issues include the redevelopment of Highway 54 through the Wisconsin Rapids Area, energy production parity, U.W. Stevens Point differential tuition, and issues facing technical colleges.

Engineering Administrator for the Village of Port Edwards, Joseph Terry said the Highway 54 redevelopment project "has been studied and recommended since 1975."
