Music filled the room where disc jockeys, surrounded by sound equipment, led thousands of Trivia 46 participants through the annual 54-hour contest in Stevens Point.

“It’s really intense to DJ, cause you just know there’s a lot of people listening,” said Dylan Shanahan, a University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point senior and station manager at 90FM, the student station that puts on the contest. “It’s the most that will probably be listening to you at one time ever on this station.”

Shanahan, who would DJ for his third and final year in the 54-hour contest this weekend, remembered the first time he went live during Trivia. He said he was surprised the first time he was chosen to DJ, but despite his nerves, he was prepared and felt good about it.

The contest draws participants from other states and the large audience puts extra pressure on the college students organizing and DJ-ing the event.
