Enjoy dance rhythms and a world premiere when the Wind
Ensemble at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point performs in March.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 6,
in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center, conducted by Jonathan Caldwell,
interim director of bands.
The ensemble will present the world premiere of Garret
Schumann’s “Chant–Fanfare,” as well as “Galliard battaglia” by Samuel Scheidt,
“Satiric Dances for a Comedy by Aristophanes” by Norman Dello Joio, “Night
Dances” by Bruce Yurko and selections from “William Byrd Suite” by Gordon
Jacob. The concert will close with two Slavic dances, including “Pequeña
czarda” by Pedro Iturralde, featuring UW-Stevens Point Saxophone Lecturer
Preston Duncan, and “Galop” from “Moscow, Cheryomushki” by Dmitri Shostakovich.
The concert is $8.25 for adults, $5.25 for senior
citizens and $4.25 for students or free on concert day for students with a
UW-Stevens Point ID. Tickets are available at the University Information and
