Experience the flair of “Virtuosity” at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Wind Ensemble’s Friday, Dec. 5, concert. It will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center.

Conducted by interim Director of Bands Jonathan Caldwell, this is the ensemble’s second program of the semester. It features Malcolm Arnold’s “Water Music,” a Percy Grainger suite, Dana Wilson’s jazz-inspired “Shortcut Home” and William Bolcom’s “Song for Band” and unrelenting “Machine” from Symphony No. 5. Virtuosity will be on full display as Tara Schwab, assistant professor of flute at UW-Stevens Point, performs “Concerto for Flute and Wind Ensemble” by Charles Rochester Young, professor of composition.

The event is part of the Music Department Scholarship Series. Tickets are $8.25 for adults, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for students and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D.
