University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point officials
want to raze and replace the university's library before it faces a
situation similar to the one UW-Madison faced last week when massive
concrete slabs fell off the third story of a building and onto the
pavement below.
Interim UW System
President Tommy Thompson made the case for infrastructure spending at UW
schools during a visit to Stevens Point's campus Friday. Replacing
Albertson Hall in Stevens Point is the No. 1 building priority on the UW
System's $1.3 billion capital budget request this year. The project to
replace Albertson would cost $96 million, which includes rebuilding the
university's landmark sundial — Specht Forum.
