Winners of $7,000 scholarships announced

I am delighted to announce the winners of a $7,000 tuition credit from UW System. These six UW-Stevens Point students were randomly selected by UW System as part of its Vax Up! 70 for 70 campaign. They are among 71 percent of UWSP students who received a COVID-19 vaccine, which qualified students who submitted their vaccine records for this top prize. UW System is awarding 70 scholarships to students at UWs that achieved 70 percent student vaccination rate.

Congratulations to:

  • Cortez Clark, Janesville
  • Jadyn Clarner, Lino Lakes, Minn.
  • Madi Clayton, Door County
  • Megan Karczewski, Johnson Creek
  • Nicole Luoma, Menomonie
  • Emily Patton, Stevens Point

They join scores of vaccinated students who won prizes in UW-Stevens Point's "It's Worth a Shot" vaccine incentive campaign. Prizes ranged from gift cards to local businesses, dinner and theater packages to a Trig's shopping spree.

More prizes will be awarded this week! Winners of several $500 tuition relief incentives and a MacBook Pro will be notified soon.

I am grateful and proud of our students, as well as our faculty and staff who have achieved 90 percent vaccination. From the beginning of the pandemic, we've counted on students and employees who care deeply about our campus family and made choices to keep our community safe and healthy. Thanks to each of you for doing your part.

Enjoy this video of some of our winners.

Sincerely,

Thomas Gibson, Ed.D.
