If you have credits from a different school and have not previously attended UWSP, please see Cheryl  Kawleski in the Admissions Office, room 102 of the Student Services Center, 346-2441 or  ckawlesk@uwsp.edu.

If you have credits from UWSP, please see an academic advisor. If you are undecided as to a major,  see an advisor in the Student Academic Advising Center, room 103 of the Student Services Center. Stop  in, call 346-3361, or email acadadv@uwsp.edu to set up an appointment.  If you are decided on a  specific major, see an academic advisor within your specific department.

The hours are posted in the office window each semester.

 13.  Where can I find information about how credits transfer within the UW System?

The Transfer Information System (TIS) is an excellent information source for students who plan to transfer within the UW System. Students can learn about college costs, admissions and registration procedures, and how courses will transfer from one campus to another. UWSP students who plan to take courses during the summer at another UW System campus or Wisconsin technical college can use TIS to find out how their courses will transfer back to UWSP. You may access TIS at www.uwsa.edu/tis/ or from the UWSP Admissions Office Web site at www.uwsp.edu/admissions/index.aspx.

 14.  Does UWSP accept credit-by-exam (CLEP) credits?

Yes, UWSP awards credit for acceptable scores in a variety of subjects.  Please check out the CLEP (College Level Examination Program) subject examinations that are offered/accepted at UWSP at http://www.uwsp.edu/admissions//clep.aspx.  If you have questions please contact Cheryl Kawleski in the Admissions Office at 346-2441.

A class is being developed which will enable you to create a portfolio to demonstrate what you have learned from past experience and trainings to meet requirements in a course. Expected announcement will be Spring or Summer 2012.

 15.  I am a veteran.  What kinds of military education benefits are available for me?

For information on military education benefits, please contact UWSP’s veterans services coordinator, Ann Whipp.  She is located in the Office of Registration and Records, Student Services Center, room 101, phone 295-8947.

You may also check the Web at www.uwsp.edu/reg-rec/veterans.htm.

 16. What are other sources of cash for school expenses besides going through financial aid?

Several positions are available each semester to work in the NonTrad office (Dreyfus University Center, Room 066 D). Stop in anytime during the semester and fill out an application for the next semester.

NonTrads may hear of jobs and will let the office know. We will post them on the door (Dreyfus University Center, Room 066 D) for people to see.

ANTS has a tradition of fundraising and then disbursing the monies in the form of scholarships deposited to the student point cash asscount or against tuition expenses. Those who contribute items or are part of the staff for ANTS events are eligible to apply. Volunteering in the office also counts toward ANTS participation for scholarships.

Create an account at Fast Web. Once an account is set up you can designate an amount needed and the reason for the need. It is free to sign up (no guarantee of receiving money). It is an option.

 17. How can I be more involved with ANTS on campus?

Stop in the office, Dreyfus University Center, Room 066 D. Sign up for a project. Attend officer meetings (see door postings). Ask questions and share challenges and together we will find solutions.
