Purchasing Guidelines for UWSP Computers, Hardware, & Software

All requests for technology purchases at UWSP must be processed through the Information Technology Purchasing Office.

Why do all university technology purchases have to go through the IT Purchasing Office?

The State of Wisconsin has mandatory contracts and policies which must be adhered to when purchasing university technology.  Information Technology additionally has standards in place to insure that purchased technology is compatibility with the UWSP environment, technical support can be provided, and that the purchased technology adheres to UWSP and UW-System security policy and guidelines.

The above applies to all technologies in the UWSP environment, including but not limited to: computers, monitors, printers, computer peripherals (flash drives, cables, etc), projectors, audio/visual equipment, televisions, blue-ray players, software and software as a service (SAAS).

For additional information see the "Equipment and Procurement Policy" section on the Information Technology Policies page.

Can personal technology purchases be made through the IT Purchasing Office?

The IT Purchasing Office does not accept technology purchase requests for personal use.  Information Technology does provide information on discounted computers available for direct purchase from the manufacturer.
