Introduction

[EDUC 200 Task]

The purpose of this page is a overview of your professional qualifications. Your teaching identity is the common theme in this whole portfolio, and this page is where you describe your teaching identity as clearly and concisely as possible.

This should be a relatively formal introduction. "Concise" means short: your Introduction should be short. In about 3-5 paragraphs of about 3-5 sentences each, you should describe these things in this order:

Remember, you'll also create a different, more biographical page called "My Influence as a Teacher." That's a better place to talk about your family, your religion, etc.

You also need a semi-formal or formal picture of yourself. Ideally, use a "headshot": a closeup of your face and shoulders.

You don't need to go into detail about your teaching philosophy. You have a whole different page for that.

Be careful about describing your ideal job. Suppose you apply for a job in a different region, subject, or grade level. If you sound less than enthusiastic about this possibility, a potential employer is unlikely to hire you.

Be sure there are no errors in conventions (e.g., spelling, grammar, punctuation).

Leave these bullet points at the bottom of your Introduction. You'll need them in the future.
