Disbanded Committees



Over the years, the WEEB has utilized various committees to conduct its work. The following committees were associated with EE2005 (the 2000-2005 strategic plan) and have been disbanded. Their work will continue under the auspices of the committees associated with Wisconsin's Plan for Environmentally Literate and Sustainable Communities and Wisconsin's Plan to Advance Environmental Literacy and Sustainability in PK-12 Schools. EE in the Schools Committee was charged with overseeing objectives and outcomes associated with priority I of the EE2005 document. During the five year period, members included: Shelley Lee (Department of Public Instruction) and Jennie Lane (K-12 Environmental Education Program) as co-chairs, Jack Finger (Retired Wauekesha School District), Judy Klippel (Havenwoods Environmental Center), Pat Marinac (Appleton Area School District), Bill Rockwell (WI Technical Colleges), Jeanine Staab (Medford School District), Dennis Yockers (Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education)

The Leadership Committee was charged with overseeing objectives and outcomes associated with priority II of the EE2005 document. During the five year period, members included: Rick Wilke (UW-Stevens Point) as chair, Abby Ruskey (National Environmental Education Advancement Project), Jack Finger (Waukesha School District).

A second leadership committee was charged with overseeing objective and otucomes associated with the EE2010 document. Members included: Mark Dahlby (Velez Moreno & Vargas, LLC), Nick Hylla (WFREA), Jeremy Higgins (National Wildlife Refuge Project), Rick Koziel (Beaver Creek Reserve), and Dennis Yockers (WCEE).
This committee produced (May, 2007) two planning documents. The first PDFdetails a community based social marketing campaign for EE in Wisconsin. The second outlines justification for EE in Wisconsin, identifies past successes and current initatives, presents relevant research, and describes a common vision for EE in the state. PDF. The committee was dissolved in October 2008 before the operational plans were realized.

Nonformal EE Committee was charged with overseeing objectives and outcomes associated with priority III of the EE2005 document. During the five year period, members included: Al Stenstrup (Department of Natural Resources) as chair, Debby Blomberg (Blomberg Logging), Bill Buckley (Wisconsin Wildlife Federation), Nick Espy (Milwaukee Public Museum), Jim Holperin (Trees for Tomorrow), Deb McRae (Wehr Nature Center/UW Extension), James Mills (Zoological Society of Milwaukee), Margie Shea (Girl Scouts), and Sterling Strathe (Central Wisconsin Environmental Station)

Assessment of EE Committee was charged with overseeing objectives and outcomes associated with priority IV of the EE2005 document. During the five year period, members included: Shelley Lee (Department of Public Instruction) as chair, Randy Champeau (Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education), Jennie Lane (K-12 Energy Education Program), Dan Sivek (UW-Stevens Point)

Communications Committee was charged with overseeing objectives and outcomes associated with priority V of the EE2005 document. During the five year period, members included: Rick Wilke (UW-Stevens Point), Sabrina Gentile (Wisconsin Farm Bureau), Gail Gilson-Pierce (Trees for Tomorrow/Wisconsin River Alliance), Robin Harris (UW-Madison), and Pat Marinac (Appleton Area School District)

Regional Resource Center was charged with objective #4 of goal V of the EE2005 document. During the five year period, members included: Rick Koziel (Beaver Creek Reserve) as chair, Phyllis Peri (Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education)

Public Benefits was charged with monitoring policies and actions undertaken by the Department of Administration in its administration of the Public Benefits program as they influenced current and future implementation of the WEEB's energy education grant program. During the five year period, members included: Pat Marinac (Appleton Area School District) chair, Barry Ashenfelter, Randy Champeau (Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education), Robin Harris (UW-Madison), and Al Stenstrup (Department of Natural Resources)

Copyright Issues Task Force was charged with addressing issues related to copyright of WEEB grant produced materials. During the five year period, members included: Robin Harris (UW-Madison) and Mike Krysiak (ENCAP)
