The Rainbow Group is the final step at the HRG-UCLCC before the children begin kindergarten. School preparations are stressed in a developmentally appropriate environment. Many hands-on learning activities are provided in the child-centered classroom. Field trips are more frequent. Stevens Point Public Schools 4-K Program is available daily from 9:15 -11:45.

The curriculum for the Rainbow Group reflects the teaching practices of a developmental curriculum. The preschool uses teaching strategies that include social-emotional, development with language, literacy, cognitive, physical, aesthetic, large motor, independence, and self-worth. Activities include a variety of developmental age appropriate activities and materials that are process not product oriented. Reading, movement, art projects, daily chores, dramatic play, block building, and quite play are all incorporated into a well-rounded preschool curriculum.

The activities and materials promote self-help in a safe environment. The daily plans are thematic-based, reflecting the world around us. Learning is done through doing. Individual and group needs are always met.
