Assessment of Learning
At UWSP, the assessment of student learning is intended to provide
the foundation for all academic planning and decision making. The
ultimate goal of assessment is to ensure the continuous improvement of
student learning as well as the courses, programs, and policies that
make it possible.
The review and evaluation of assessment
results is the responsibility of the Assessment Subcommittee, which
resides under the Faculty Senate’s Academic Affairs Committee. Over the
past couple of years, the Assessment Subcommittee has received Faculty
Senate’s approval to suspend the receipt of regular program assessment
reports while it works with academic departments to revise the
assessment process and review cycle. To review the timeline for this
revision, see the link at the right.
As part of these changes,
the Assessment Subcommittee is sponsored a three-semester series of
workshops called the UWSP Assessment Academy. These seven workshops were
designed to assist departments in improving their evaluations of
student learning.
Beginning Fall 2011, the new reporting cycle will resume, and
selected departments will once again begin submitting assessment reports
to the Assessment Subcommittee.
