The tasks involve a combination of readings, discussions, and projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are no set meeting times, and work can be completed asynchronously, so you can create your own schedule. There are deadlines, but it&#8217;s up to you to decide when and where to complete the work. In general, we give the following estimates for course time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/wfc\/wisconsin-forestry-center\/utility-vegetation-management-certificate\/foundations-certificate\/\">Foundations of UVM courses<\/a>: ~8-10 hours per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/wfc\/wisconsin-forestry-center\/utility-vegetation-management-certificate\/professional-certificate\/\">Professional UVM courses<\/a>: ~10-15 hours per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/wfc\/wisconsin-forestry-center\/utility-vegetation-management-certificate\/uvm-program-planning\/\">Capstone credentialing prep course<\/a>: ~15-20 hours per week<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-create-block-uwsp-accordion-section\"><summary class=\"accordion-heading\">Are prerequisites required to enroll?<\/summary><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>No; however, courses must be taken sequentially. UVM 1: North American Electrical Systems is open to anyone, and no previous degree is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program is a college-level training program designed for those motivated individuals seeking management and\/or leadership positions. The courses are reading and writing intensive, so decent writing skills and excellent time-management are important. We have found that people are most successful if they have been in the utility or arboriculture industries for a few years.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-create-block-uwsp-accordion-section\"><summary class=\"accordion-heading\">How are we graded? Is there a required grade to be considered competent? <\/summary><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>Each course is graded on an A to F scale using detailed rubrics that are readily available to students. Individuals who obtain at least a &#8220;C&#8221; average (70%) in each course will be awarded a course certificate of completion from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To earn the Foundations of UVM or UVM Professional Certificate, an average of 75% or <strong>higher <\/strong>must be obtained across all associated courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grades are earned based on the following scale:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>92.5 &#8211; 100% = A<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>90 &#8211; 92.4% = A-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>87.5 &#8211; 89.9% = B+<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>82.5 &#8211; 87.4% = B<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>80 &#8211; 82.4% = B-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>77.5 &#8211; 79.9% = C+<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>72.5 &#8211; 77.4% = C<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>70 &#8211; 72.4% = C-<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-create-block-uwsp-accordion-section\"><summary class=\"accordion-heading\">I am an ISA-certified professional. Although the content may prove to be helpful in certain circumstances, these are not certification prep courses. If paying the full amount is difficult, we do offer payment plans that involve paying in 2-3 installments, depending on the length of the course.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-create-block-uwsp-accordion-section\"><summary class=\"accordion-heading\">Are scholarships available? <\/summary><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>Yes! We are aware of two (2) scholarship opportunities. Please note that UWSP WFC does not administer these scholarship programs, so questions should be directed towards the sponsoring organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. The Utility Arborist Association (UAA) in cooperation with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&amp;E) is proud to offer full-tuition scholarships for the Utility Vegetation Management Certificate Program. The Utility Vegetation Management Association in Canada awards two $1,000 Pro-UVM scholarships per year to students who meet their requirements. Can I use GI Bill benefits to pay for the UVM course?  <\/summary><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>Unfortunately, no. This certificate program, developed by the Utility Arborist Association (UAA) and the Utility Vegetation Management Association (UVMA), is being offered in collaboration with UW-Stevens Point. Students receive an industry-recognized certificate, but the certificate program is non-credit-bearing, and individuals register and pay for courses independently, not through tuition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Veterans may consider taking advantage of our payment option, which provides an opportunity to pay in installments, rather than all at once.
