Rob York, Ph.D.
Associate Professor, Cooperative Extension, University of California Berkeley
Dr. York is an Associate Professor of Cooperative Extension at UC Berkeley. I serve as Co-Director of Berkeley Forests, focusing on providing leadership to a network of research forests in Sierra Nevada mixed conifer forests. He hold the Dickinson Chair in Wood Science. Rob’s research and extension work focus on field experimentation to explore novel approaches to forestry and expanding the use of prescribed fire at stand scales.

Michael Jones, Ph.D.
Forest Advisor, University of California Cooperative Extension
Michael Jones is the Cooperative Extension Forest Advisor for Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake Counties. He specializes in forest health and disturbance ecology with a focus on coastal conifer forests and oak woodlands. Through his extension program, he encourages stewardship practices that help create healthy forests that are resilient to future disturbance. His research explores the management of invasive forest pests and how disturbance, such as fire, can be incorporated into management practices that can help forest stakeholders achieve stewardship goals and objectives.
He completed a Ph.D. in Entomology from State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry and a B.S. in Environmental Biology and Management from UC Davis. Throughout his career, he has studied endemic and invasive forest pests, including emerald ash borer, sudden oak death, goldspotted oak borer, and Mediterranean oak borer.
