Wisconsin is among a few states that have developed an <a href=\"https:\/\/dpi.wi.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/imce\/pathways-wisconsin\/2023_08_Energy_Regional_Career_Pathway_Map_Template_2022_2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Energy Career Pathway<\/a> that can be used by teachers, students, parents, and industry to help students discover and map an educational and professional journey in energy. The resources below are arranged for three audiences &#8211;&nbsp; educators, students, and energy industry partners.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"uwsp-featuredlinks-links\"><div class=\"fl-buttoncontainer fl-button-cluster\">\n<div class=\"featbutton ft-button-bg1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/wisconsin-center-for-environmental-education\/keep\/careers-in-energy\/\/#educators\">Educator Resources<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"featbutton ft-button-bg3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/wisconsin-center-for-environmental-education\/keep\/careers-in-energy\/\/#students\">Student Resources<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"featbutton ft-button-bg4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/wisconsin-center-for-environmental-education\/keep\/careers-in-energy\/\/#industry\">Industry Resources<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-primary-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-primary-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"educators\">Educator Resources<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\">\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/keep-career-resources-educators.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-211560\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:75%\">\n<p>KEEP maintains resources and partnerships to support teachers as they guide their students to EXPLORE energy careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwsp-accordion blockspacetop blockspacebottom\"><div class=\"accordion\" id=\"\"><div class=\"panelcontainer nofirst\">\n<details class=\"wp-block-create-block-uwsp-accordion-section\"><summary class=\"accordion-heading\">Rationale<\/summary><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>In&nbsp; 2023, 5% of all US jobs were in the energy sector (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/policy\/us-energy-employment-jobs-report-useer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USEER Report<\/a>).&nbsp; The clean energy transition for generating electricity from renewable resources means there is an expanding need for new employees in electric power generation. For students who have shown an aptitude in building and construction, energy-related construction jobs expanded at a faster rate than general construction jobs. Similarly, for students who are interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing, energy-related manufacturing employment is also expanding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The clean energy transition is a critical facet for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving a globally stable climate.&nbsp; Jobs which support fossil fuel distribution will continue to be important, but the opportunities in renewable energy installation and maintenance were among the fastest growing careers in 2024, as reported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/ooh\/fastest-growing.htm#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">US Bureau of Labor Statistics<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearly two thirds of Gen Z workers say they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/we-need-all-workers-bold-climate-action-gen-z-ready-efrem-bycer-hoehc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">want to get a green job<\/a> within the next five years. However, they need the help of their teachers to discover and explore the array of green jobs within the energy sector. Educators play a critical role in introducing students to possible career paths.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/wewc.wildapricot.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wisconsin Energy Workforce Consortium<\/a> (WEWC) is a collaborative non-profit organization where Wisconsin&#8217; investor-owned utility companies, utility construction companies, Wisconsin Technical College campuses, and KEEP coordinate outreach and recruitment for energy industry in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KEEP, through partnerships within the WEWC, develops and disseminates energy career education resources in support of ACP initiatives throughout Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-create-block-uwsp-accordion-section\"><summary class=\"accordion-heading\">KEEP resources to support EXPLORING energy careers<\/summary><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>KEEP staff are available to provide technical assistance or lead an in-service professional development to assist school districts with customizing the <a href=\"https:\/\/dpi.wi.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/imce\/pathways-wisconsin\/2023_08_Energy_Regional_Career_Pathway_Map_Template_2022_2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DPI Energy Career Pathway<\/a>. Most districts are already offering CTE courses in ACE, Manufacturing, or STEM which align with the energy pathway. The DPI reports the <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1GP4nQ9Lm0G8p_yvbK8TIFnFxC9whYXzt\/view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">top five CBLE opportunities<\/a> were: classroom speaker, company tour, career fair, job shadow, and career mentoring.
