Acoustic Monitoring Training with Wildlife Acoustics

The Wisconsin Center for Wildlife is hosting this two-day bioacoustic monitoring workshop at the Central Wisconsin Environmental Station located in Amherst Junction, WI. We are proud to host instructors from Wildlife Acoustics, one of the leading providers of bioacoustics monitoring technology. This professional workshop will introduce participants to the full suite of Wildlife Acoustics’ recording units and Kaleidoscope software for monitoring birds, bats, frogs, insects, and more.

Wildlife Acoustics Professional Training

The Wisconsin Center for Wildlife is hosting a two-day professional workshop with Wildlife Acoustics on September 15 – 16, 2025 at UW-Stevens Point’s Central Wisconsin Environmental Station in Amherst Junction, WI.

Participants will be introduced to the full suite of Wildlife Acoustics products and software. We will cover the best strategies for deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting units. We will deploy units overnight and use data to explore manual and automatic analysis tools in Kaleidoscope, Wildlife Acoustics’ analysis software.

We will provide a detailed overview on how to manage acoustic data, how to use Kaleidoscope software for file playback, and for both manual and automated call identification and analysis.

Participants are welcome to bring existing data to review and work with during the training.

This workshop is eligible for up to 11 CEUs in Category I of the Certified Wildlife Biologist® Renewal Application with The Wildlife Society.

Workshop Logistics

Registration Fees: Professionals: $250 Student: $125 On-site lodging for the nights of September 14 and 15, and meals (breakfast and lunch on the 15th and 16th, dinner on the 15th) are provided with registration. Lodging is on-site at Central Wisconsin Environmental Station for September 14 and 15. Lodging is bunk-style, in shared rooms (up to 4 people per room.) Individual rooms are not available. If you prefer your own room, you will need to arrange your own lodging. There are several hotels available nearby in Stevens Point.

Who Should Take This Training?

This workshop is intended for wildlife and conservation professionals, biologists, researchers, and students who are currently or will be using acoustic monitoring in their research, monitoring, or other work. We welcome professionals and students working with birds, bats, frogs, insects, and other wildlife.

Cancellation Policy

A full refund will be issued for cancellation notices received by August 31, 2025. A 50% refund will be issued for cancellation notices received by September 5, 2025. No refunds will be issued after September 5, 2025. Cancellations must be made in writing by contacting wcw@uwsp.edu
