New Student Checklist


Congratulations and welcome to the UW-Stevens Point at Wausau community! 

Download the STAR student checklist (Fall 2021).docx to keep track of your tasks and deadlines or reference the list below.

UW-Stevens Point at Wausau student ID number is required (number is located on admittance letter). Please contact the Office of Admissions and Recruitment at 715-346-2441 or with any admissions questions. 

1. Financial Aid and Scholarships 

Apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Code is 003924. For more information on financial aid, please contact 715-346-4771 or 

Apply for scholarships. Complete the Scholarship Application - priority consideration will be given to students who have been admitted and submitted their scholarship application by December 15 (Early decisions), March 15 (Final deadline).

2. Placement Testing 

Sign up to take the tests at March 15. Tests need to be completed 2 weeks prior to your summer STAR/Orientation session.

3. Sign up for Student Transition, Advising and Registration (STAR)

All new students are required to register for a STAR/Orientation program to meet with academic advisers, register for classes and learn more about an array of university resources helping students transition to campus. Sign-up opens in March.

Choose the "self-paced" option for Wausau. When registering in accesSPoint, please also include your transfer or long-term plans in the “Career Exploration” section. Then, schedule your individual registration advising appointment. Advising appointments will begin in May and should be completed on a desktop or laptop.

To make your appointment, download "Navigate Student" in Google Play or the App Store. Sign up for the soonest appointment, with either Miranda Gentry-Siegel or Amber Ruff-Brei, for the best course selection. Make sure you choose "New Student Registration/Advising Appointment" under Services. If you cannot schedule your appointment through Navigate, you can call the UWSP-Wausau Solution Center at 715-261-6235, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Mon. - Fri.

4. Final Steps 

June - All students should arrange for final high school and college transcripts, and AP/IBArrange for high school transcript, AP/IB test scores to be sent to the UW-Stevens Point Office of Admissions and Recruitment. (1108 Fremont Street Room 102, Stevens Point, WI 54481). 

August - Tuition bill will be sent. Bills are sent electronically to students through their UW-Stevens Point at Wausau email account and are available on accesSPoint.

September - Classes begin.
