Bio
During the first twenty years of my life, I explored the beautiful lakes, streams, and wetlands of Wisconsin. After attending and graduating from UW-Stevens Point I worked in the West, then headed south and east to perform research and complete my graduate degrees. I was a visiting assistant professor at West Virginia University for one year and then accepted a permanent position in the University of Maryland system, where I stayed for four years. When the opportunity arose to return to UW-Stevens Point and teach the same courses I credit for piquing my interest and steering my career, I happily accepted it. As a broadly-trained ecologist that has worked in multiple regions of the US, I aim to share my enthusiasm, knowledge, and experiences with my students.

One thing about your college that you are most proud of?
The faculty in the Fisheries and Water Resources discipline are enthusiastic and engaging educators. We’re also active researchers with strong ties to state and federal agencies, which helps us keep our curriculum relevant and current.
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
I like learning, and teaching allows me to have a career where I’m constantly learning.
