For many consumers, wasting food is inevitable.

"It's always really sad for me," Ali Wade of Stevens Point said. "I try my hardest not to waste food, I eat a lot of leftovers, I try and cook with that in mind to not have leftovers, and to not waste food."

At the Focal Point 2014 conference at UW Stevens Point, businesses from all across the country learned what they can do to reduce the $162 billion dollars of food that is wasted each year.
