The break between college semesters after the holidays is not really a break for many of UW-Stevens Point’s students. About one thousand of the campus’ 9,500 students use the time to engage in special studies during the Winterim period.

Associate UWSP Registrar Ed Lee says there are many course offerings where students can get three credits in a two-week long intensive study program, and students often get ahead or catch up on their degree programs with these classes. “This winterim period is a two week period where they take primarily one course, and it allows them to concentrate on one subject for the full two weeks and therefore covering enough content for a regular three credit course that would normally last the full sixteen weeks of the semester.”

Students can enroll in several courses including accounting, biology, business, communication, economics, education, geography, history, music and psychology.
