Federal duck stamp contest draws hundreds to UW-Stevens Point Campus

It's being billed as the only art competition sponsored by the federal government, and the first time Wisconsin is playing host.

The 2017 Federal Duck Stamp Contest kicked off this morning at UW-Stevens Point.

The winning work will be on next year's stamp, and provide a financial boost for conservation.

Inside the Noel Fine Arts Center at UW-Stevens Point, artist Mike Watson, a professional photoghapher from Park Ridge, Illinois, described his entry, two mallard ducks, he called Mister and Missus.

"They are done in watercolor and wash, mixed media type of paint. A little bit of colored pencil thrown in there to get some detail," said Mike Watson, Artist.
