Enjoy
the music of Haydn, Bach, Copland, Janáček, Scriabin and Liszt in a piano
recital by University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point faculty member Stijn De Cock.
The
concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, at Michelsen Hall in the
Noel Fine Arts Center.
De
Cock, an associate lecturer of piano, will perform the C Minor Sonata by Joseph
Haydn, the Prelude and Fugue in B-flat Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, the
E-flat Major organ Prelude and Fugue by Bach/Busoni, “In the Mists” by Leos
Janáček, “El Salon Mexico” by Aaron Copland as arranged by Leonard
Bernstein, “Deux Poèmes” and selections of the Op. 8 Etudes by Alexander
Scriabin, and the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 12 in C-sharp Minor by Franz Liszt.
A
native of Belgium, De Cock has been a soloist, chamber musician and teaching
artist in the United States and abroad. He has taught at UW-Stevens Point since
2014. He has performed in prestigious music festivals around the world and won
multiple competitions. His students have won prizes at state and international
piano competitions.
Part of the Music Department Scholarship Series, the
concert is $8.25 for adults, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for
students and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point
