With
the theme “Anything Goes!” faculty and students will provide an evening of
music and fine dining as part of the 17th annual Soirée Musicale, a fundraiser
of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Music Department.
Held
Friday, April 24, at Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St.,
the event begins with a 6 p.m. reception in the courtyard. Beverages and hors
d’oeuvres will be served, followed by a musical program at 7 p.m. An afterglow
party closes the evening, featuring a student jazz combo, desserts and cash
bar.
Musical
selections will include pieces by Scott Joplin, Ástor Piazzolla, Maurice Ravel and Cole Porter.
Performers will include students and faculty violinist Steven Bjella, pianist
Molly Roseman, vocalists Matthew Markham and Susan Bender and percussionist
Adam Rappel.
Admission
is $50 per person and includes entertainment, dinner and dessert. For more
information and to purchase tickets, visit www.uwsp.edu/music/Pages/soiree.aspx
or call 715-346-3841.
All proceeds fund scholarships, primarily for incoming
first-year students, which enable UW-Stevens Point to recruit and retain some
of the region’s most promising musicians. Soirée Musicale has raised more than
$275,000 for music scholarships since its inception.
