Take on the role of a diplomatic representative while learning about international issues and relations at the Model United Nations (UN) summer day camp offered at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

High school students may attend Aug. 9-11, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., on campus. The camp will be led by Mert Kartal, an assistant professor of political science and international relations, as well as two student members of UW-Stevens Point's award-winning Model UN team.

Camp attendees will learn the basics of the UN as an international organization, understand contemporary issues in international relations and how inter-state diplomacy works. They will strengthen research, communication, negotiation and leadership skills. No prior Model UN experience or knowledge is required.

The camp costs $100, which includes breakfast and lunch for the three days, all materials, walking tour of campus, T-shirt and drawstring bag. Registration is first-come, first-served. Reserve a spot at http://tinyurl.com/UWSPMUN or email mkartal@uwsp.edu for more information.
