Homecoming week at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will be Sept. 27 through Oct. 3. The theme of this year’s festivities are “Operation Homecoming: For Pointers’ Eyes Only,” and offers events such as a homecoming parade.

Homecoming Week arrives
at UW-Stevens Point

Here is your mission if you choose to accept it: Join the Pointers Sept. 27 through Oct. 3 as the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point celebrates a spy-themed Homecoming Week.
 
“Operation Homecoming: For Pointers’ Eyes Only” offers activities for community members, alumni and students. The following events are open to the public.
 
On Sunday, join the “Catch Me if You Can Fun Run” at 3 p.m. Registration will be held prior to the 5K race at the Allen Center on Illinois Avenue. The first 200 participants will receive a Homecoming spirit item.
 
On Oct. 2, a pep rally will be held in Berg Gym at 6 p.m., featuring the cheer and stunt team, dance team and UW-Stevens Point Pep Band.
 
Events on Oct. 3, begin at 10 a.m. with coffee and donuts with alumni and friends at Quandt Lobby, sponsored by The Coffee Studio. The Homecoming parade also begins at 10 a.m., following a route that begins on Isadore Street and goes down Fourth Avenue.
 
A community and campus picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the DeBot Dining Center on campus. The cost is $5 per person. The picnic features inflatable games and student competitions, including a tug-o-war.
 
An All-Greek Reunion will be held at 11 a.m. in Lower DeBot Center Room 073 for past and present Greek organization members.
 
The Homecoming football game begins at 2 p.m. at Goerke Field on Minnesota Avenue. The Pointers take on the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds. For tickets, call 715-346-4100.
 
The 2015 Alumni Awards Banquet will be held Saturday evening at 6 p.m., honoring four Distinguished Alumni and the Trailblazer, Mary Ann Nigbor Volunteer of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award winners. For tickets, register at http://give.uwsp.edu/alumnibanquet.
 
“Homecoming is the perfect opportunity for alumni and community members to come to campus and reconnect with their Pointer family and friends,” said Laura Gehrman Rottier, director of Alumni Affairs.
 
Students will take part in a cake decorating contest, casino night, laser tag and sports tournaments throughout the week to earn points for their Homecoming teams.
