On Friday morning the Friends of Schmeeckle Reserve officially broke ground on a state of the art amphitheater that will be donated to UW-Stevens Point upon completion.

After nearly five years in the making, the amphitheater will feature sandstone seating for 200 people and a timber-frame stage. The project cost over $200 thousand, but thanks to individual donors and sponsors, no state, city or student funds will be allocated towards the project.

“We think that the amphitheater will give back to the community for many years to come,” added Jerry Lineberger, President of the Friends of Schmeeckle Reserve.
