Businesses are looking at ways to make consumer products and building materials using Sustainable Technology. Several businesses including SC Johnson, Ocean Spray Cranberries, and Briggs and Stratton took part in the Sustainable Technology Conference hosted by the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point yesterday.

The Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology is part of UW-SP. Director Paul Fowler says they had several breakout discussions covering a variety of innovative new ideas.

Fowler says companies are improving their bottom line while saving money with new uses for raw materials, biofuels, and other resources. One example was the use of a material in a concrete pad that made it strong and lightweight with half as much cement, and no need for support pillars.
