Smoked billowed from a third floor dorm window. Firefighters hustled to grab hoses and gear up.
But Thomson Residence Hall on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Campus wasn’t on fire. The smoke was fake. For the first time since 2011 the Portage County Metro Fire District ran a simulation on the UWSP campus. Firefighters from the Stevens Point and Plover fire departments trained in high-rise operations and hose-line advancement in the four story residence hall Wednesday night. This was the first year for the Plover department to train on campus.
