Student takes second in Army's Best Warrior Competition

Mitch Fromm, a combat engineer with the Army Reserve’s 428th Engineer Company based in Brokaw, placed second in the U.S. Army’s Best Warrior Competition.

The announcement, made Friday night at Fort Lee, Va., was held after three days of grueling physical and mental tests, which included running, hiking with packs, shooting a variety of weapons, written essays and warfare simulations. The competitors also had to present themselves in front of a selection board comprised of six senior sergeants major from across the Army...

...Fromm, 23, of Stevens Point is a 2008 graduate of Marathon High School and is currently a student at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point majoring in wellness and fitness. He also works as a carpenter and is a volunteer firefighter for the Plover Fire Department.​
