University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's next chancellor had dreams of working in film and as a news anchor long before he ventured into a career in academia.

He graduated from college with a degree in mass communication and spent his college years working as a technical director at a news station. But he says he found himself the most fulfilled when helping college freshmen and working as a peer mentor while attending college in Connecticut.

He went on to teach English for four years before returning to a small, private Connecticut college as a residence hall director and then climbed the ranks of higher education institutions.
