The
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will be completely closed during Memorial
Day weekend for an upgrade to campus electrical service. The public is
asked to stay off campus grounds during the closure.
This
electrical upgrade will help the university avoid unplanned power outages in
the future.
All campus facilities will be
closed from 3 p.m. Friday, May 23, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 27. The only
exception is Schmeeckle Reserve, which will be unaffected and open to the
public. No access will be allowed to any university facility, including outdoor
recreation fields, without permission from UW-Stevens Point Protective
Services.
Protective
Services will provide additional patrols to enforce the campus closure. Power
will be restored for the beginning of the workweek May 27.
