UW-Stevens Point Symphony Orchestra presents 'Dance!'

The Symphony Orchestra at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will celebrate music and movement as the ensemble performs its first concert of the semester. 

Themed "Dance!" the concert will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center.

The program will include Slavonic Dance Nos. 1 and 3 by Antonin Dvorak and the Argentinian tango "Muerte del Angel" by Astor Piazzolla. Kelsie Menzia, a music education major from West Allis, will guest conduct the waltz from "Sleeping Beauty" by Peter Tchaikovsky. Other selections include "First Essay" by Samuel Barber and Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Marquez.

The Symphony Orchestra is directed by Andy Moran, assistant professor of horn and director of orchestras. Members are selected by audition and come from a variety of majors.

Concert tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $5 for youth and UW-Stevens Point students, faculty and staff, and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. if not sold out. Tickets also may be purchased at the door if available. Proceeds benefit student scholarships.
