Learn to tap dance, or enjoy its rhythm, during the
Point Tap Festival in Stevens Point Aug. 7-9.
Now in its fifth year, the event brings tap students and
internationally known faculty to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for
three days of intensive classes. On Saturday, Aug. 9, a mini-fest package is
offered for those with little or no tap experience, and tap shoes are not
required.
Two performances are open to the public. A free jam
session will be held on the Public Square in downtown Stevens Point from 7 to 9
p.m. Friday, Aug. 8. A festival show will be performed by faculty at 8 p.m.
Saturday in the Noel Fine Arts Center dance studio (room 136). Tickets at the
door for the Saturday event are $15 for adults and $5 for children 14 and
under.
Faculty members include Mark Goodman of Raleigh, N.C.,
Ryan Casey of Boston, Sarah Reich of Los Angeles and Jeannie Hill, an associate
professor of theatre and dance at UW-Stevens Point and founder of the Point Tap
Festival.
