Learning is ForEver classes offers opportunities for adult learners

Share experiences and discover new interests through the Learning is ForEver (LIFE) program offered through the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Geared for adults, the LIFE program is offering nearly 80 workshops, lectures and tours in 2018. New this year, members can join for the winter/spring session for $37.50. Year-long membership is $75 annually. Participants may attend as many courses as they choose. The first class is Jan. 24, and registration opens Jan. 9.

This spring's programs include topics on Japanese culture and cuisine, sustainability, the great war in film, Wisconsin English, journey into dementia, Iceland, South Africa, Cuba and other travel, genealogy, Sharia Law, history, sports, theatre, natural resources, current events and more. Four spring daytrips have additional fees. They are trips to Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Wineries, the Point Brewery Tour, and the Milwaukee Art Museum/Museum of Wisconsin Art.

LIFE was founded at UW-Stevens Point in 2001 and has more than 350 members. A volunteer committee plans the curriculum presented by former and current UW-Stevens Point faculty and staff, local experts and other speakers. Past field trips have included travel to the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, the Overture Center in Madison and various destinations in Milwaukee, the Fox Valley, Treehaven and the International Crane Foundation.
