UW-Stevens Point Jazz Band to perform "The Next Chapter"

The Jazz Band at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will perform in concert Tuesday, April 24, with the theme "Jazz Journey IV: The Next Chapter." 

 The concert is at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center. The band is directed by David Hastings, professor of saxophone and musicianship.

The Jazz Band will perform three Duke Ellington pieces featuring student soloists, including "Ko-Ko" with trombonist Emily Jones, Shawano; "Concerto for Cootie" with trumpeter Michael Burish, Manitowoc; and "Star Crossed Lovers" with saxophonist Eddie Stevens, Eagle River. Faculty members Mathew Buchman, piano; Jared Dalgleish, trombone; Ryan Korb, drums; Dave Story, bass; and Brent Turney, trumpet, will perform "Big Dipper" by Thad Jones.

The band will also play "The Next Chapter" by Patty Darling, "All in a Dream" by Paul Baker, "Freddie Freeloader" by Miles Davis, "You Are So Beautiful" arranged by John Clayton and featuring student vocalist Will Toney, Milwaukee, and "Time for a Change," by Hank Levy.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $5 for UW-Stevens Point students, faculty and youth and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. if not sold out.
