The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution ensures citizens' freedom of speech, but do these freedoms extend to forms considered hate speech? That question and more will be explored in a talk held at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Monday, Sept. 18.
Political Science Professor John Blakeman will discuss this topical issue from 4-5 p.m. in Room 227 of the Collins Classroom Center, 1801 Fourth Ave. It is open to the public free of charge. Campus visitors may park in Lots E and Y.
Blakeman's research focuses on constitutional law, religion and politics, and federalism. Chair of the Department of Political Science, Blakeman is the author of "The Bible in the Park: Federal District Courts, Religious speech and the Public Forum."
