Learn how to give your child the gift of music lessons in the New Year at the Aber Suzuki Center (ASC) open house on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Noel Fine Arts Center, the event will begin with an instrument “petting zoo” in which children can try playing a violin, viola, cello, piano, harp and guitar, as well as face painting. ASC Director Pat D’Ercole will give a welcome at 9:45 a.m., followed by an information session for parents while children enjoy rhythm games. At 10:15 a.m., current ASC students will present a mini-concert and cookies will be served. ASC faculty members will be available throughout the event for questions.
Families are also invited to observe group classes from 10:45 a.m. to noon, and then attend a pizza party with current students, their families and staff.
“As in our open house last fall, prospective families have the opportunity to ask questions of current Suzuki families and hear what their children have gained from the program,” said D’Ercole.
Those who register for spring semester lessons at the open house will receive a $50 tuition rebate. New in 2013 is the opportunity for those looking to try lessons to purchase a $99 certificate for four 20-minute lessons. Private instrumental lessons can start as early as age 3 and the ASC Early Childhood Education class is offered to infants and children up to age 4.
