Open to the public, Treehaven offers over 14 miles (22km) of trails year-round. In winter, we groom and maintain ~9 miles (14km) of classic ski trails and 4 miles (6.5km) of snowshoe trails. All classic trails are two-way and groomed with a double set of classic tracks.
No pets or motorized vehicles are allowed on trails. Please follow all Land Use Regulations.
Fees
Trail passes are required for all activities including hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Fees are used for trail maintenance and equipment. Daily Trail Passes are $5/person and available at trailheads. Annual access is $25/person/year.
Passes for guests of Treehaven and class/conference participants are included in the site use fee.
Trailheads
Trails can be accessed through one of three trailheads.
- Snowshoe Trailhead: At the far end of the main visitor parking lot, near the White Pine Lodge.
- Ski Trailhead: Next to the Fern Young Cottage. Small parking lot may or may not be available depending on guests on-site.
- County Road H: This trailhead allows hikers and wintertime skiers quick access to the Sugarbush trail. A small, unpaved parking lot is available.
Hours and closures
Trails are open daily from dawn-dusk unless otherwise posted. Occasional trail closures due to research activities, prescribed burns, etc. are announced online and posted on trailheads.

All trails besides designated Northwest Passage closure are open to hiking.
The Northwest Passage between points 2 and 29 remains CLOSED to the public due to a hazardous boardwalk collapse. This section of the trail will remain closed and blocked off until repairs are completed. For your safety, please avoid the affected area.
