Employee Reporting Requirements

All faculty and staff play an important role in preventing and responding to reports of interpersonal violence.

Sexual Assault Reported to University Employees

Per WI § 36.11(22)(c): "Any person employed at an institution who witnesses a sexual assault on campus or receives a report from a student enrolled in the institution that the student has been sexually assaulted shall report to the Dean of Students of the institution. The Dean of Students shall compile reports for the purpose of disseminating statistical information under par. (a)1.b." This policy applies to all student employees, faculty, and staff. Reports under this requirement may be submitted online and can be anonymous (information about the victim not included).

The employee submitting the report must include their contact information to ensure appropriate delivery of resources to the reported victim. Here are some resources for you:

Talking Points for "Responsible Employees"

Responsible Employees

The following individuals are "responsible employees" as outlined under Title IX. These employees are required to report any disclosures made by a student directly to the employee about sexual harassment, sex and gender-based stalking, sex and gender-based harassment and bullying, dating violence, and/or domestic violence. Reports must be thorough and complete, to include the names of all people involved. A person on this list is not a Responsible Employee if that individual is also a Confidential Resource (e.g., Director of the Counseling Center). The Title IX Coordinator may make changes to this list as necessary. When making changes to the list, the Title IX Coordinator will consult with appropriate stakeholders.
