Bachelor of Arts (BA) Drama

Stage managers, directors, playwrights, and scholars are as much a part of theatre as actors and designers. The BA degree track offers opportunities to students with a passion for theatre in areas other than those focused upon by our BFA degrees. Who finds the BA their pathway? Those with a desire to direct, manage, and write. With only 44 credits required, the BA offers the opportunity to add a second UWSP major or multiple minors. You can craft the education you need and want with the BA in Drama.

The goals of this degree are to provide students with:

  • Concrete knowledge of the history and literature of world theatre
  • Understanding of contemporary thinking about performance
  • A vocabulary in the fields of theatre scholarship, acting, design and technology, and directing
  • Transferable skills including critical thinking, oral and written communication, organization and time management, textual analysis, and an understanding of the creative process
  • Opportunities to participate in a variety of theatre and dance productions
