Aber Suzuki Center Student Programs

  • Specifically designed for children newborn to age 4.
  • Children build motor development, aural, and visual skills, among others.
  • Children learn essential socialization skills such as taking turns, sharing toys, and helping with class routines.
  • Children learn nursery rhymes and songs, move to music, play rhythm instruments, and have a group story and book time.
  • Parents learn the natural stages of child development, how to observe their child’s growth, and how to structure a positive, nurturing environment.
  • Parents help their child learn these skills to develop a strong parent-child bond.
  • Classes are taught using the Suzuki Philosophy which emphasizes personal growth through the development of skills, musicianship, and nurturing kind hearts.
  • When a child graduates from the SECE class, both the parent and child have the foundation to start individual Suzuki music instruction on any instrument.
  • Conveniently scheduled classes meet on Thursdays at 4-5 and 5:30-6:30pm on the UWSP campus.
  • Expectant parents, or parents with young children, are invited to observe a class for free. Please call to let us know you are coming.

  • Available for students age four through adults.
  • Lessons are available in violin, viola, cello, bass, harp, guitar, piano, flute, and voice.
  • Lessons take place on the same day each week, and can be 20, 30, 45, or 60 minutes depending on the student’s age and skill level. Your teacher can help you determine an appropriate lesson length for the student.
  • Enrollment is required each semester. Class fees are calculated based on a 16-week semester and may be paid by credit card, check, or cash as a lump sum or divided into 4 equal installments.
  • Additional lessons are available during the summer.
  • You are invited and encouraged to observe one or more lessons prior to enrollment, especially if you are unsure which instrument interests you most. It may also be possible to have one or more trial lessons prior to enrollment.
  • Parents are required to attend all lessons with their child until the teacher has determined the student to be an independent learner.

Monthly Marathons

  • One Saturday a month there is a large group class for all students.
  • Students play and learn with other students studying their instrument.
  • This is an opportunity to be inspired by more advanced students if you are just beginning, or act as a role model and mentor if you are a more advanced player.

Weekly group classes

  • 12 consecutive weeks of group class focused on your specific instrument and skill level.
  • These classes meet on a weekday evening.
  • Includes only those students that are playing the same repertoire.
  • This allows for more individualized attention while still in a group setting, and more time to work on the specific technical and musical skills appropriate for each level.

  • An introduction to orchestra and ensemble performance.
  • Students must be recommended by their private teacher to ensure that students are ready to begin working with the ensemble.
  • Students in the orchestra will develop ensemble and music reading skills as well as gain performance experience.
  • Have fun with other ASC students while learning to work as part of a team.

The Central Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra Program (CWYSOP) provides a high quality symphonic performing experience for committed middle-level and high school students who, with other like-minded musicians, wish to perform great symphonic literature, raise their level of playing and nurture their love of music.

 

String Adventures is a class for students with little or no experience playing violin or viola. We explore the instrument and learn the basics of playing and creating a beautiful sound.
  • Attendance of a parent or responsible adult in the lesson (and who can assist with home practice) is strongly recommended for student success.
  • Instrument rental is included.
  • Wednesdays at 6:00 pm
  • Fee – $205 plus registration (instrument rental included)
