Students with a high level of academic performance, demonstrated commitment to rural community needs and a strong interest in health care\u2013are encouraged to apply. Equally important in the selection process is evidence of the applicant\u2019s work ethic, resiliency and empathy.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"panelcontainer nofirst\">\n<details class=\"wp-block-create-block-uwsp-accordion-section\"><summary class=\"accordion-heading\">Requirements<\/summary><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and\/or University Honors Student<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student must have at least 2 years of undergraduate degree work remaining to participate in the program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full-time and part-time student status are acceptable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pursuing a major in one of the following:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Communication Sciences and Disorders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Family and Consumer Sciences-Child Life Specialist<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food and Nutrition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health Sciences and Wellness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medical Laboratory Science<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nursing (including Pre-Nursing)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pre-Professional (Pre-AT, Pre-Med Pre-OT, Pre-PA, Pre-PT)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social Work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-create-block-uwsp-accordion-section\"><summary class=\"accordion-heading\">How to Apply<\/summary><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p>Identify application desire on the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwsp.scholarships.ngwebsolutions.com\/CMXAdmin\/Cmx_Content.aspx?cpId=1601\">UWSP Scholarship Portal<\/a>. Students interested in the program are asked to complete the application and identify one UWSP faculty\/staff reference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For students to take full advantage of the opportunities in the program, upon selection into the program the scholar will undergo Marshfield Clinic onboarding requirements (TB testing, vaccinations, drug testing, background checks, and necessary health care training (HIPPA). The Community Connections Team aims to keep patients well beyond the walls of a health care facility. Students will work with patients to connect them to resources according to their needs. Year #2 of the program will focus on the development of career-specific skills and research opportunities. In this year, scholars will develop insight and direct mentor relationships with professionals in the School of Health Sciences and Wellness and conduct research and present that research at various symposiums and\/or conferences.
