<\/figure>Applied Sociology Practicum includes two options<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
1. Field Internship Placements<\/strong> Sociology 492<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 3 to 6 cr. Observation and applied sociology practice under the guidance of cooperating field placement supervisors in an approved social service agency; emphasis on guided applied sociology. (1 credit equals 50 field hours)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sociology 493<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 Required weekly seminar that goes along with the internship\u20141 credit for each semester you are interning\u2014an opportunity to learn from others who are currently interning, process challenges and experiences, and discuss topics of importance to Sociology practice\u2014required journaling and presentations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Students will observe and apply sociological practice under the guidance of cooperating field placement supervisors\/research mentors in an approved placement. The Department connects students with placements in their areas of interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Learn more about requirements and when to apply at our informational meetings held each semester. Application Deadline: Friday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m. (for summer and fall placements)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Use the sample cover letter and resume template<\/a> for reference when completing your application.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n The field coordinator will review each student\u2019s ASP preference and partnership availability. We want to ensure a great fit between our students and community needs. ASP field coordinator will get in touch with students about available opportunities.
