(Formerly South Hall)

Hyer Hall will be reopening for the 2020-21 academic year.

  • Hyer Hall serves as home to individuals who are 21 years of age or older prior to the start of fall semester.

  • All genders are housed in a "scattered" room configuration; restroom facilities are assigned as men on first and fourth, women on second and third.

  • Students will have a single room occupancy and can choose to opt out of a meal plan

  • Effective fall 2010, South Hall was re-named Hyer Hall. The original Hyer Hall was located on the northeast corner of the residence hall communities where the Suites@201 now stands.

  • Frank S. Hyer, the hall's name sake, served as president of the then State Teachers College from 1930-38. A previous resident of Stevens Point, Hyer was president of the State Teachers College in Whitewater prior to his return to Stevens Point. Under Hyer's direction, the school officially recognized a number of student organizations that had previously existed "outside" of the college. Student life developed under Hyer to include glee clubs, formation of a band, and athletic programs.

  • Hyer is located south of main campus and is conveniently situated between Main Street and Clark Street. Locate Hyer Hall on the UW-Stevens Point campus map
